Okay, okay–it is snowing out, it’s Groundhog’s Day today and the groundhog says 6 more weeks till Spring…so what better time to look at pictures from Summer–hmm acutually, these are Autumn’s pictures….and here’s a link to Autumn’s Class of 2010 pix–she loved the soft in-studio look-and the art look we did at her grandpa’ barn too….

Autumn’s pictures made for Class of 2010-includes traditional soft indoor portraits and edgey art look made at her grandpa’s barn–that’s what she preferred.

Though we’re located near Ann Arbor, we can go just about anywhere in Michigan for graduating senior portraits. These choices are part of the No Limits portrait package we offer at Photo Generations in Downtown Dexter.

In Autumn’ case, we went to her home, then she came to the studio for a second traditional session–We used window light and studio light to get different looks. A lot of fun–many portraits for Autumn to choose from.–Colleen

Happy Labor Day!

We just finished up a session at Autumn’s house–gorgeous gardens with all kinds of niches:  the frog pond, grampa’s barn, the split fence post, the wagon wheel, the cool cobble steps.  We did a family portrait and even put the backdrop for an in-home studio look with Autums sports jerseys.  Then after the garden pictures, we went over to Autumn’s boyfriend Tyler’s place to do action pictures on his dirt bike.  A very Loud bike.  good fun.  Thanks for a good time guys.  Can’t wait to see the pix.  We’ll send you a link when the online gallery is ready.

Yet another inspiring senior portrait session.  A Whitmore Lake Class of 2010 senior grad-to-be, Mindy will be graduating with both a high school diploma and an associates degree.  Wow.

This gal is focused.    She knew exactly what 4 things she wanted to represent at her senior portrait session this week:  her church, her political activities, her love of the water, and her love of the photography. I had to laugh when we were making the head and shoulders picture for the school yearbook.  I  commented that I liked her necklace.  ‘Oh, I made it from rocks I gathered when we climbed Mt. Aetna in Italy’.  You know, some individuals just are focused on making the most every effort. I salute you Mindy!

A short trip down the road to Ann Arbor, and we’ll pic up this old hat and maybe include that. Thoroughly enjoyed the session. The alley was cool dark and colorful in the evening. A few changes in the subject since tha last session, hmm, was that in 3rd grade?

The water and studio pix were wonderful, too.

Today a mom at the studio was very concerned that we remove acne form the portraits of her class of 2010 grad-to-be.
‘Yes, every portrait we print at Photo Generations IS touched-up to remove blemishes.”I reassured her.

She had come from a local chain studio that does NOT do retouching. She had almost placed her order at the other studio, when the girl helping her choose the portraits said,
‘We’ll get this picture sent over to your school right away.”

“Whoa”, alert mom interjected, “Don’t you take away his acne?.”
‘”No, we don’t,” chain studio sales person told her.

So alert mom contacted me, and asked twice if we do touch ups before arranging the session. Yes Yes Yes! I even have been known to touch up baby drool! But you don’t know it. Because I only want you to notice how gorgeous you are. Sometimes though, I do ask permission if the client wants to keep the moles [beauty marks?] or dark circles under the eyes–hey, some families have that dark-eyed look.

Just so you know, ‘touch-ups’ is the same here as ‘retouching’. Sometimes we call it ‘print art’ which might also include softening or special color treatments. In this digital age we have many options to make everyone look the very best they can. And that includes touch-ups.

A pole vault, varsity jacket,  green top contrasting with orange hair, chunky necklace, black strapless dress with crisp white sweater. What we had to to play with was intriguing. ‘Chickie’ was open to different ideas at her session last week. What a joy to play around Dexter with this relaxed confident senior! Fun!

soooo, last week Elvis showed up on Main Street by the Dexter Bakery, and yesterday this gentleman  showed up at the studio….lovin’ the tie dye look no less….
